Why John Cena Should Win Major Title In Final WWE Match
John Cena is set to retire at the end of 2025, with his farewell match confirmed by NBC for December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, broadcast exclusively on Peacock. The match is rumored to take place in Boston.
John Cena has around ten dates left, including confirmed appearances at WWE Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis on September 20 and WWE Clash in Paris on August 31, where he will face Logan Paul.
Cena’s highly publicized retirement tour reignited classic rivalries. With only a few dates left on his retirement tour, fans are left guessing who might challenge him next on the last stage of his legendary career.
Who Would Be a Fitting Opponent for John Cena’s Final Match?
On the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray discussed John Cena’s retirement. He shared his thoughts on who he’d like to see Big Match John face in his retirement match, adding that Cena winning a major championship in his retirement bout would be celebratory.
If WWE were to book John Cena to defeat Seth Rollins on his final night and win the World Heavyweight Championship, it would be a storybook outcome for Cena’s career and a befitting farewell for The Last Real Champion.
“[If] John beats Seth [Rollins] for the championship on his last night, that’s a celebration,” Bully Ray said. [H/T Wrestling Inc]
However, Bully Ray did admit that if WWE decides to pursue this direction, it would close off opportunities for other wrestlers to shine or create surprising moments.
Meanwhile, on The Wrestling Time Machine, Teddy Long proposed that Logan Paul beating John Cena at Clash in Paris on August 31 would be a huge milestone for The Maverick rather than a customary farewell win for Cena.
The WWE Hall of Famer believes putting Logan Paul over would create a shocking moment, giving him credibility and pushing his status as a crossover superstar.
“I kinda wanna agree with Bill (Apter), you know, as far as Cena going over and making Logan Paul look like a million dollars. But you know it would be good, I mean, Cena is supposed to be retiring and everything, and I don’t know which way to go with this. But god, it would be great to see Logan Paul go over. I’d like to see that.”
