John Cena Unveils Post-Retirement WWE Role
John Cena would not cut ties with WWE following his in-ring retirement.
Earlier this year, The Franchise Player returned to the ring to embark on his farewell tour. The 48-year-old Undisputed WWE Champion is set to hang up his boots by the end of this year.
While many wondered if Cena would ever return to the squared circle following his farewell tour, the now-Hollywood star made it clear during an interview with Good Morning America that it will never happen.
Meanwhile, the future WWE Hall of Famer disclosed that he would remain tied to the Stamford-based company in the role of an ambassador.
I’ll be an ambassador for the WWE as long as they’ll have me. [4:01 onwards]
When Is John Cena’s Final WWE Match?
Starting his farewell tour, John Cena disclosed that he would be making 36 appearances throughout 2025. The Undisputed WWE Champion has since made 19, with 17 left.
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, John Cena revealed that his final match is scheduled for mid-December, though the venue has yet to be decided.
I’m 48. My last match will be in mid-December. We are still trying to find out a place to do it but, I said 36 dates in January. We are halfway through, and gosh, it’s been a lot of compelling TV. I don’t want to spoil it for anybody but I think we are just getting started.
Cena is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship this weekend against CM Punk at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
