John Cena To Wrestle At Major WWE Event
John Cena is inching closer to retirement.
At Crown Jewel on October 11, John Cena and AJ Styles will lock up for the final time.
Coming off the back of his defeat to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza, Cena began a public campaign for a match with Styles before he retires. For his part, The Phenomenal One was quick to realise the opportunity, and he jumped in on the action.
But while WWE gave the impression of the match being thrown together due to public demand, it had reportedly been scheduled for some time. The build-up to the match, largely being on social media, is believed to have just been a mechanism to get around Cena’s lack of remaining TV dates.
But once his battle with Styles is over, what comes next?
The End Is In Sight For John Cena
With that match with Styles now just days away, Cena’s final handful of WWE dates are clearer than ever. And according to a new report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this will include a match at Survivor Series.
“His other match, I knew he had another match coming up that hadn’t been announced, but it’s actually for the Petco Park show in San Diego. So he’s on Survivor Series on that show.”
Meltzer added that unless Cena has agreed to any kind of secret extension, he has three matches left, including his clash with Styles. He’s also been confirmed for Raw at the TD Garden in Boston on November 10 and a week later at Madison Square Garden on November 17.
As speculation ramps up around Survivor Series, John Cena has dropped a new Miz-related tease to have his own fun with the rumours.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Gunther will be the man to retire John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
