John Cena To Win One Final WWE Championship

John Cena WWE cant see me

WWE has one more big win planned for John Cena.

At WrestleMania 41, John Cena beat Cody Rhodes in the main event to claim a 17th World Championship win. Crucially, this took him past Ric Flair’s record, which WWE recognises as 16.

Cena kept hold of the gold until losing it back to Rhodes at SummerSlam. On the final episode of SmackDown, ahead of the summer spectacular, he also dropped the heel character he’d been using since Elimination Chamber.

While most assumed that this would be Cena’s last taste of championship gold, it seems that might not be the case.

WWE Planned John Cena Win

Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer highlighted that Dominik Mysterio is currently the favourite to beat Penta and Rusev at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1 to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

This ties in with a plan, as of “a few weeks ago,” for Cena to beat Mysterio for the title at Survivor Series.

“The fourth match is Dominik Mysterio vs Penta vs. Rusev for the IC title. Mysterio would be the favorite given there was the plan a few weeks ago of John Cena winning that title from Mysterio at Survivor Series and defending against Gunther in his retirement match.”

As things stand, Cena has four dates remaining before retirement. This will see him appear in Boston on the November 10 episode of Raw, and at Madison Square Garden in New York a week later.

His final two matches will then take place at Survivor Series on November 29, and then Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 in Washington, D.C.

Despite continued speculation around his retirement tour, John Cena has promised that he won’t be extending his career. In an update on his future, the star reaffirmed his plans to walk away from in-ring competition on December 13 and, importantly, stay retired.
