John Cena Reacts To Significant Film Role Being Scrapped
A film starring John Cena isn’t going forward as planned.
As WWE legend, John Cena is one of the most beloved pro wrestlers in the history of the business. However, the leader of the Cenation is still relatively new in the Hollywood game. While Cena is becoming well-known as an actor, he also stars in some movies that aren’t considered to be hits.
John Cena was supposed to star in a movie movie called “Coyote vs. Acme.” According to The Wrap, the film was fully finished and screened for audiences, but Warner Bros. Discovery turned down several offers to air the movie, so “Coyote vs. Acme” is still unreleased.
The “Coyote vs. Acme” film is based on a 1990 New Yorker article by Ian Frazier. It includes the well-known Wile E. Coyote character and the Acme Corporation from the famous Looney Tunes company. The story is about how Coyote sued the Acme Corporation following numerous failed attempts to kill his nemesis, the infamous “Road Runner.”
Cena’s role in the film was the Acme Corporation’s lawyer while Will Forte played Coyote’s lawyer.
In an interview with The Wrap, Cena spoke about “Coyote vs. Acme” being put on the shelf for now.
“There’s a lot there. And everyone’s perspective is different. We don’t own the film. That’s the tough part about this business, you do have a sense of ownership because you invest heart and soul. And [director] Dave Green and everybody involved, we made what we thought was a good movie.”
“I would have liked to seen it given a chance. But I’m just one person. And if it was shelved, I would have to think that it was shelved for the right reasons and it was a good business decision.”
John Cena Wants To Trust The Process
The discussion continued with Cena speaking about how he had to trust the process that the decision-makers made to not release the film.
“I think I would have tremendous regret and shame if I look back on the legacy of the movie and it was shelved for reasons other than that.”
“So I have to believe in the process. And I love the movie, my heart and soul is in there, but it’s somebody else’s project to do what they want with and they’ve chosen accordingly.”
John Cena plans to wrap up his wrestling career in 2025 while one of his greatest on-screen rivals, Randy Orton, has picked Cena as the guy to induct Orton into the WWE Hall of Fame when it’s time for Orton’s induction.
