John Cena Reveals Post-WWE Retirement Plans

John Cena Survivor Series

The Never Seen 17 star recently wrestled his final ever match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th.

John Cena’s final match ended with him losing to Gunther. After being locked by The Ring General in a vicious sleeper hold, The Grand Slam Champion was seen sheepishly tapping out with a mild smile on his face, effectively ending his time in the ring and ushering in a new era in the WWE.

The match itself received a ton of backlash from critics and fans, many of whom felt that it wasn’t the right way for WWE to bring the curtain down on the GOAT’s beloved career. Others thought it was right for him to pass the torch to a new generation of superstars to run with and carry the company on their shoulders as he did for nearly 20 years at the top.

Regardless, John Cena himself was very clear about how he wanted to go out and even went on to say in a recent podcast with Cody Rhodes that the fans didn’t get his retirement tour, and that was fine because he was pleased with the rich story he felt he was able to tell in his final year.

John Cena Shares His Retirement Plans with Cody Rhodes

Speaking to The American Nightmare on his “What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast‘s much-awaited latest episode, John Cena shed light on what like after his curtain call is going to look like.

He first stated that he would be going on vacation and after that, avoid screen time and go back to reconnecting with people he loves whom he couldn’t connect with when he was “working”.

Whatever hill i have next but that is like.. keep screen time way down. Get as many social engagements as you can. Actively listen. Curiously act about folks. And be genuine in what they have to answer. Know when.. you need.. do you want me to listen or do you want me to help? essentially. Lot of folks just wanna lighten their backpack. You know what I’m sayin’? There are folks i care and love about and actively after years of absence hiding under the guise of well I’m working I’m still not pouring into that relationship.

As for what’s next in terms of the WWE, Cena said

So i got two to three weeks of that and then I’ll see man. (1:32:53 onwards)
