John Cena Reacts To Batista Not Wanting To Do Movies With Him

John Cena has revealed that recent comments from his fellow wrestler-turned-movie star Batista left him feeling less Super Cena and more “super sad.”

Earlier this year Batista – now best known by his real name of Dave Bautista – responded to someone on social media who wanted to see The Animal star in a movie with both Cena and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Batista simply offered the response of “Nah I’m good” before elaborating in a further Tweet that he didn’t want to be “lumped in” with Cena and The Rock.

Cena and Batista had a long history in pro wrestling together going back to their training days in OVW twenty years ago. They had some big matches against eachother at shows like SummerSlam 2008 and WrestleMania 26 in 2010 as well.

Cena was asked Batista’s comments in an interview with Esquire:

“I’m super sad about that because Dave Bautista is an unbelievably gifted actor. He’s done some amazing work. But I think when someone makes a statement like that, I think the important thing is to try and look at things from their perspective. Dave has worked so hard on his craft, and he is so dedicated to his characters, and really wants to put forth a body of work that gives him his own identity. I 100% understand that.”

“Dave is one of the nicest and generous guys you’ll ever meet. I don’t have any beef with Dave and I genuinely think he doesn’t have beef with me. He really just wants to be identified and recognized for his work. And I cannot fault him for that. I applaud him for it. To be brave enough to say something like that kind of allows him to go forth on his own and I appreciate that.”

Batista was chosen to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame, but he was unable to make it, so he should go in soon. Cena will obviously be a WWE Hall of Famer soon. They are two of WWE’s biggest homegrown stars ever.

While Cena is one of the stars of DC’s The Suicide Squad, Batista found a home in Guardians Of The Galaxy movies. The Rock broke into movie superstardom through his role in The Fast And The Furious franchise which has since spun off into his own Hobbs and Shaw movie.
