John Cena Producing New WWE Docuseries
John Cena knows a thing or two about making it as a WWE superstar, so that’s why he’s a great choice to help produce “WWE: Recruits.”
For over 20 years, John Cena has been a big part of WWE as one of the greatest superstars in WWE history. For the last few years, Cena has stepped away from being a full-time WWE superstar to become a successful actor, TV host, commercial pitchman and producer among other things. Now, Cena is about to lend his WWE expertise on creating a new show.
It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that WWE is producing a new docuseries called “WWE: Recruits“ for The Roku Channel, with the 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena set to produce and appear in the eight-episode series.
The premise behind “WWE: Recruits” is that will follow a group of men and women hoping to become WWE superstars. Some of the other big names set to appear in the series are WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair and the current Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.
Filming for “WWE: Recruits” is already underway with some of the content already produced during WrestleMania 39 last weekend in Los Angeles.
John Cena issued these comments on what “WWE: Recruits” sets out to accomplish.
“Millions around the world watch and dream of it, but only a handful of extraordinary individuals can become a WWE Superstar. I am so excited to bring WWE: Recuits to The Roku Channel and look forward to giving viewers an exclusive all-access perspective on how the WWE turns the dreams of talented young people into a reality.”
Sean Boyle, who is the head of adventure and exploration programming for Roku Channel, also commented on the “WWE: Recruits” show.
“Roku Original series WWE: Recruits not only unpacks how the WWE transforms unknown athletes into world-renowned stars, but also invites audiences into the lives of an unforgettable group of young people chasing their ultimate dream.”
“We could not be more excited to work with the icon himself, John Cena, as our executive producer and our outstanding partners, the WWE and A. Smith & Co Productions, to share the untold story of this high-stakes world.”
At WrestleMania Saturday on April 1st, Cena was in action against Austin Theory. Unfortunately for Cena, he was unable to beat Theory for the US Title. It’s unknown when Cena will return to WWE again.
#WWE, much like life, is not about the heights of success, but the journey to get better each day. Excited for the opportunity to partner with @WWE and @Roku on this exciting endeavor to find the generation of Superstars! https://t.co/IIgkYbvIZw
