John Cena Playing Presidential Candidate In New Peacock Film

Next month, Peacock is set to debut a new film, and it’s starring 16-time world champion John Cena.

On Wednesday, the streaming service made the announcement that “The Independent,” a political thriller, will exclusively make its premiere Wednesday, November 2, 2022 on their platform.

Emmy-nominated Amy Rice directed the film, with Evan Parter covering the writing side of things. Each Park Pictures, Relativity Media, NEXT Productions and Anonymous Content are releasing the movie, and doing so in association with The Exchange and Orogen Entertainment.

Joining alongside John Cena in starring “The Independent is Ann Dowd, Jodie Turner-Smith and Brian Cox.

Here is the official synopsis of the film:

“It’s the final weeks of the most consequential presidential election in history. America is poised to elect either its first female president (Ann Dowd) or its first viable independent candidate (John Cena). Reporting history as it’s made, an idealistic young journalist (Jodie Turner-Smith) teams up with her idol, legendary journalist Nick Booker (Brian Cox), to uncover a conspiracy that places the fate of the election, and the country, in their hands.”

The producers of the movie are Caddy Vanasirikul, Theodora Dunlap, Ryan Cunningham, Sam Bisbee and Evan Parter.
