John Cena’s Off-Air Reaction To Cody Rhodes’ Attack On WWE SmackDown (Video)

John Cena had a rough night on WWE SmackDown, but the crowd showed him some love after the show.

In the main event of WWE SmackDown in San Antonio, the WWE Champion John Cena had a contract signing with his SummerSlam opponent, Cody Rhodes.

After Cody Rhodes eagerly signed the contract, the WWE Champion John Cena claimed that he was busy filming a project for Netflix, and he didn’t think he could compete against Cody at SummerSlam. The fans booed that as Cena suggested that maybe they can do it at Clash in Paris or Crown Jewel in Perth.

Cena said right now, physically and emotionally, this is all he can give you guys. Cena thanked the fans and appreciated their understanding of this matter. That’s when Cena left, but Cody went after him and brought Cena back in the ring.

When things got physical, Cody got the advantage by hitting Cena with the WWE Title. Cody put Cena on the table, and Cody climbed to the top rope with the contract in hand. Cody hit a Superfly Splash off the top rope onto Cena through the table.

While Cena was on the broken table, Cody grabbed Cena’s hand and signed the contract for him. That’s when Cody informed Cena that there’s a stipulation: “John Cena, check the fine print. It’s not just a match for the title at SummerSlam. It’s a Street Fight!”

John Cena Given Huge Ovation After SmackDown

Following the end of SmackDown, John Cena grabbed the WWE Title and sat on the ring apron. The fans chanted, “Thank You Cena” for the WWE legend’s final appearance in San Antonio as part of his retirement tour. Cena walked up the aisle as his music played. Cena looked out at the crowd, then he turned his back and held up the WWE Title as he left to a huge ovation.

Even though John Cena is a heel on WWE television right now, he is still beloved by the fans.
