John Cena Gets New Challenger For WWE Retirement Tour Match

John Cena WWE cant see me

The challengers for John Cena keep coming, even from former WWE superstars.

John Cena’s retirement tour has just four dates left.

  • November 10: WWE Raw in Boston, MA
  • November 17: WWE Raw in New York, NY
  • November 29: WWE Survivor Series in San Diego, CA
  • December 13: Saturday Night’s Main Event, Washington, D.C.

In a post on social media, John Cena made it clear that he gave his word to the WWE fans that he will retire as a wrestler this year, and he’s sticking to it.

Despite any speculation or rumors, on July 6, 2024 I announced I would retire from WWE in-ring participation. I am far from perfect but strive to be a person whose word has value. 12/13/25 will be my final match. I am beyond grateful for every moment WWE has given me. I am excited for 12/13 & look forward to seeing all of you one last time.

There is already speculation that John Cena could beat Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Title at Survivor Series since Cena has never won the IC Title before, so it would give him one more title win before retirement.

That would lead to Cena’s retirement match, which is rumored to be against former World Champion and Intercontinental Champion, Gunther.

Matt Cardona Wants A Match With John Cena

If WWE wants to really surprise people, then one wrestler that Cena could face on his retirement tour. The former Zack Ryder competed in WWE for about 15 years until his spring 2020 release. During his WWE career, Cardona was an Intercontinental Champion (for one whole day), a United States Champion, and a two-time Tag Team Champion while also becoming popular with the fans thanks to a YouTube show.

There was also a storyline in the early 2010s involving Cena and Ryder, where the popular Ryder was attracted to Eve. However, Cena’s good friend stole the girl and kissed her in front of Ryder, who was in a wheelchair at the time. Wild times, indeed.

While answering a question on X/Twitter, Cardona mentioned John Cena as a WWE superstar he wants to wrestle.

This past Tuesday on WWE NXT, Matt Cardona competed in a WWE ring for the first time in over five years when he faced NXT’s Josh Briggs. Cardona represented TNA even though he’s not under contract with them.

Meanwhile, Matt Cardona’s wife, Chelsea Green, has made it clear she wants her husband back in WWE with her.
