John Cena’s post-retirement plans involve spending time with his family and enjoying the holiday season. Following that, he will see which hill he climbs next.

The Champ’s final WWE match was on December 13th, 2025, against Gunther. He tapped out in the final match, sparking debates about whether or not that was the best way to book the match.

Nevertheless, fans will have to accept the ending because John Cena is not returning to the ring for another match.

The Champ appeared for his first post-retirement interview with Cody Rhodes on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes. The duo spoke about his retirement and the Farewell Tour. During the interview, Never Seen 17 asked Rhodes if he was trying to wrap up the conversation, and Rhodes claimed he wasn’t. However, Cena reminded him that he should because there are things The American Nightmare needs to get done.

To that, Rhodes agreed, but Cena also claimed that everyone has their own path and their own way of doing it.

“You know a lot of the stuff I have to do. The stuff that you used to do”, said Cody Rhodes.

“The stuff I still do, I just hide it away from people”, revealed John Cena.

“No, but I mean, that’s the path”, said Rhodes.

“My path, works okay for me. But everybody has their own. DJ moves in his own lane, Roman in his own lane, Brock in his own lane. You in your own. Phil in his own lane. It’s a chicken soup business. And I think that’s why people get so passionate about it and I think that’s why a lot of times emotion might get the best of us. A nice way to call back to maybe something I wanted to do, to talk about this is, we all have our own way of doing it”, explained John Cena.
