Shelved John Cena Movie Finally Given Release Date

John Cena

A new John Cena movie is on the way.

It’s been announced that live-action animated comedy “Coyote vs. Acme” will finally be released on August 28, 2026. Despite being completed, the film was pulled from release by Warner Bros. back in 2023.

However, in March 2025, it was picked up by Ketchup Entertainment, which took over the worldwide distribution rights.

In a statement, Ketchup Entertainment CEO Gareth West said the movie is “a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling.”

After the film was scrapped, John Cena said he would have liked to have seen the project given a chance, believing those involved had “made a good movie.” Cana added that he’d put his heart and soul into making something fans would enjoy.

John Cena Set For SummerSlam Showdown With Cody Rhodes

Back in the ring, John Cena is set to put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes on night two of SummerSlam 2025.

The contest serves as a huge rematch from WrestleMania 41 when Cena beat Rhodes to claim a record 17th World Championship. In the main event, Cena was helped to victory by Travis Scott, but it’s since been reported that there’s been a significant falling out between the two sides.

As a result, all plans including Scott, which many believed would involve a match alongside Cena, have been dropped.
