John Cena Delivers A Message To WWE Universe Following Huge Crowd Reaction
John Cena has reacted to another WWE crowd giving him a huge reaction on SmackDown.
For the past two months, John Cena has been a regular on the WWE SmackDown brand. The current SAG-AFTRA strike is a big reason why Cena is in WWE right now because it’s preventing him from doing the acting work that he has focused on over the last five years.
On last night’s edition of Smackdown in San Antonio, there was a sold out crowd with about 15,000 people in attendance. Most WWE TV tapings in the second half of 2023 have been sellouts and if you watch WWE shows, you can certainly hear the enthusiasm of the crowd.
When Cena was standing in the ring for a promo, there were loud “Cena” chants from the crowd. The chants picked up with the fans chanting “Thank You Cena” for Cena, who said you had no idea what that means to him.
This led to Cena saying he wanted a match on Smackdown since he had gone 2002 days (all the way back to 2018) since he last won a match on television. Solo Sikoa emerged for a fight, but Jimmy Uso also went out there. Jey Uso took care of Jimmy while Cena hit Solo with an Attitude Adjustment.
John Cena has a message for WWE fans
While Cena didn’t get the match that he was looking for, he did get an incredible reception that clearly affected him as he paused to soak in the ovation. When Cena was full-time in WWE through the 2000s and 2010s, he wasn’t always cheered by the audience despite being the top “good guy” in WWE. These days, he’s introduced as the “greatest of all time” and fans react to him with love and admiration.
On X/Twitter, Cena had a message of gratitude for the WWE Universe.
It’s you. It’s me. It’s us. Thank you to the incredible crowd at #Smackdown and@WWE Universe for allowing me to continue to spend time with you. Good & bad, ups & downs I am grateful for every second we spend together.

Earlier this month, Cena said that there has never been a better time for WWE than now. It’s a bold statement from a man who has done a lot and lived through a lot in WWE.
As for his future, it has been rumored that Cena will have a match at WWE Crown Jewel on November 4th, but nothing has been announced yet. A match with Solo Sikoa or Jimmy Uso seems possible, but perhaps there could be a tag team match as well. Cena and LA Knight beat Solo & Jimmy at WWE Fastlane earlier this month.
