John Cena Match Added To WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
John Cena will be in action on the next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special.
The next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special will air on NBC on Saturday, May 24th, from Tampa, Florida. It has been confirmed that R-Truth will face his “childhood hero” John Cena at the show.
What’s funny about R-Truth calling Cena his “childhood hero” is that Truth is 53 years old while Cena is 48, and Truth’s WWE career started before Cena. However, Truth is a lovable character who acts like he doesn’t know any better, so people like to play along with it.
At WWE Backlash, John Cena successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Title against Randy Orton in a match in which R-Truth played a pivotal role. Just when it seemed Orton was going to hit Cena with The Punt, Truth showed up in the room to save Cena. That led to Orton giving Truth an RKO. It also allowed Cena to recover, hit Orton with a low blow, and hit Orton in the head with the WWE Title (the referee never saw it) for the cheap pinfall win.
After the show, at the post-Backlash press conference, R-Truth interrupted Cena, congratulated the champion, and told Cena he was proud of him even if people thought Cena couldn’t wrestle. An agitated Cena told Truth not to say anything else, but Truth tried to say more, so Cena picked him up and gave Truth an Attitude Adjustment through a table.
R-Truth Ready To Beat John Cena Back To His Senses
During a locker room sitdown interview with announcer Wade Barrett on WWE SmackDown, R-Truth spoke about his issues with his “childhood hero” John Cena. Truth said that he felt like you could depend on John Cena. Truth went over Cena catchphrases like “your time is now” and “hustle, loyalty, respect.” Barrett told Truth that he sounded crazy since Cena attacked him last week.
When Barrett mentioned that Truth helped Cena beat Orton at Backlash, Truth claimed that Cena won on his own. Truth told Wade that it was not the Cena that he knew. Truth said that the John that he knows would never do what he did.
As he continued, Truth told Wade that he didn’t want to fight John, but if he had to beat him back to his senses, he’d do it at Saturday’s Night Main Event because he talked to Nick Aldis about it, and it’s official.
To conclude the interview, Truth continued to show his love toward Cena by saying he’s going to live by three words: “Hustle, loyalty, respect.”
After Truth’s interview, WWE confirmed the Cena-Truth match is happening at Saturday Night’s main event. It wasn’t announced as a WWE Title match, which makes sense since Truth doesn’t win very often.
