Why Huge John Cena Match Won’t Happen At WWE Money In The Bank

John Cena Money In The Bank

13 years after John Cena won the famous briefcase, WWE have plans for the 17-time world champion at 2025’s Money In The Bank.

In 2012, John Cena captured the Money In The Bank briefcase for the only time in his career. He became the second star to call their shot as he challenged CM Punk for the WWE Championship on Raw 1000. However, thanks to The Big Show, Cena became the first Money In The Bank winner to fail in their cash-in attempt. But that’s all ancient history for the last real champion.

At WrestleMania 41, John Cena captured his 17th WWE Championship when he defeated Cody Rhodes. Cena clung on to that title at Backlash, flooring Randy Orton with a low blow and a title belt shot to defeat his old rival in their final match.

John Cena & Travis Scott To Team Up?

PWInsider has now given some insight into WWE’s plans for John Cena at Money In The Bank on June 7. According to the report, WWE is aware that Travis Scott is available for Money In The Bank, and this could lead to the company putting him with Cena in a tag team match.

While that’s not a definite plan, it seems WWE is staying away from booking John Cena against CM Punk at the event so there won’t be a reprise of their famous bout in 2011. Although it was noted WWE still plan on having the two stars clash before the end of the year and Cena’s retirement from the ring.
