John Cena Makes Huge Promise For WWE Royal Rumble
John Cena has kicked off his farewell tour in WWE as his career winds down in 2025 and it seems Cena has big plans as he enters the Royal Rumble.
John Cena revealed in 2024 that he was retiring from WWE as his final year in the wrestling business was set for 2025. Cena will compete in his final Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam during the year before calling time on his career that has seen him win a record-equalling 16 world championships. But could one more title reign be in Cena’s future?
John Cena appeared on the first episode of Raw on Netflix where he set out his stall for the coming year. Cena noted that people were asking about a 17th world title reign but acknowledged that his recent win/loss record makes that an unlikely goal. Cena claimed he had not won a match in 2,446 days, which isn’t strictly true but Cena is referencing his last televised singles win which did come all the way back in April 2018 at the Greatest Royal Rumble when he defeated Triple H.
John Cena Vows To Win Royal Rumble
Cena claimed that to get a title shot with that record he’d have to win the Elimination Chamber or the Royal Rumble and it was the latter of those matches that caused a lightbulb to go off in Cena’s mind. John Cena made clear that he was entering the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble and claimed defiantly “I’m not just going to the Royal Rumble, I’m going to win the Royal Rumble.”

Reports have suggested John Cena faces a monumental match at WrestleMania 41, if he does win the Royal Rumble he will tie the record for most Rumble wins with Stone Cold Steve Austin.
