John Cena Reveals If He’ll Have One More Match After WWE Retirement

John Cena WWE

John Cena has revealed exactly when his WWE career will end and explains if he’ll follow in the footsteps of every other wrestling star and be tempted into one last match.

In a shock appearance at Money In The Bank in Toronto, John Cena revealed his retirement from WWE. Cena noted that 2025’s Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania would be his last in the company but it has since emerged that around 40 dates have been pencilled in for Cena in 2025 as he looks to continue competing until the end of that year.

Speaking to Liam Crowley of ComicBook, John Cena confirmed that December 2025 is when he’ll walk away from competing for good and revealed that, unlike almost every other star in wrestling history, he won’t be tempted into one last match after hanging up his sneakers:

There isn’t a check writer with enough money to change my mind when I hang it up in December. I don’t want to continue for ego or financial gain. I built a relationship of trust and authenticity over the years with the WWE, and that’s people who think I suck and people who believe in me, they know that I shoot them straight and I’m trustworthy. I mean what I say: when I’m done in December, I am done. It is the last time I will perform in a ring.

John Cena Staying Part Of WWE Family

Cena noted that he’d still be a part of the wider WWE family but the jorts, wristbands, and cap would all be hung up for good and he’d be sporting suits instead:

I’ll be a member of the WWE family as an ambassador and a grateful one. But you will see me wear this (points to suit), not the wristbands, the jorts, the ball cap. That, in December 2025, that goes away, and that’s the reason why we’re putting so much equity and emphasis on this farewell tour.

It truly is the last time for generations for grandparents and parents and kids to get together in the same time. Grandparents could be like, ‘I didn’t know about wrestling and my son dragged me here.’ That son now has a son and daughter of their own, and they like John Cena, and now their kid likes Cody Rhodes. I want to try to do something special where we can all get together one last time and, and go through 25 years worth of memories.

The sixteen-time WWE Champion is already a regular fixture in Hollywood and John Cena will follow in Bret Hart’s footsteps with an appearance on an iconic TV show.
