John Cena Discusses Goal Of Controversial Skit At The Oscars

Jimmy Kimmel John Cena Oscars

John Cena appeared nearly nude at The Oscars and explained what he wanted to accomplish during his “streaker” segment.

The Academy Awards (or The Oscars as they are known) are a celebration of the movie industry. It’s a night where the Hollywood Elite comes together to award the best in acting, directing, writing, sound, and so on.

At this year’s Oscars on March 10th, John Cena appeared in a skit with host Jimmy Kimmel where Cena was supposed to streak naked on stage. The idea was that Kimmel wanted to do a bit where Cena ran naked across the stage, but Cena admitted he didn’t want to do it. Instead, Cena used an envelope to cover his private parts.

Cena would go on to present the award for Costume Design, which is part of the joke since he wasn’t in a costume at all. They eventually covered up Cena in a sheet after presenting the award.

Kimmel spoke about how the segment was controversial with the showrunners, who didn’t necessarily love the idea, but went with it anyway when they agreed on how Cena would appear on stage.

Future WWE Hall of Famer John Cena recently appeared on the Pat McAfee Show where he spoke about trying to make the best of the situation.

“I do take it seriously. But I take it seriously, not myself, not me looking cool. Because if you try to look cool all the time, you’re just chasing a perfect view of yourself that doesn’t exist. Man, I know I got a bald spot on the back of my head. I flossed it last night at WrestleMania. Me, you, and like seven out of 10 dudes have them. I don’t care. I’m not perfect, that’s not me.”

“So, I think instead of trying to craft every situation to how can I look the strongest or the best, I look at every situation of how can we make this the best situation. Oh, when we go over the Oscar bit and they’re like, ‘Ah, do you want to wear Spanx or spandex or a speedo?’ No, make me as naked as possible. So, Disney says it’s too naked. That’s how we go.”

“That’s the funny bit, that’s the gag. And that’s why everyone’s entertained. I think that’s what leads to polarizing opinions, and that’s what leads to interest. People can have that stuff and say, like, ‘Oh, this is this,’ but it is what it is. It’s free. Your entertainment to decide what you want.”

John Cena Helps Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 40

At WrestleMania 40 Sunday in Philadelphia, John Cena didn’t have a match. However, he made his presence felt during the Roman Reigns-Cody Rhodes match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Since it was Bloodline Rules, Reigns had help from The Bloodline group while Cody had some help from WWE stars and legends like Cena.

After Solo Sikoa nailed Cody with a Samoan Spike just like last year’s WrestleMania, John Cena took out his former rival Solo by knocking him out of the ring and giving him an Attitude Adjustment through the commentary table. After that, Cena was confronted in the ring by The Rock, who dropped Cena with a Rock Bottom.

The Undertaker appeared to take out The Rock, which led to Cody avoiding a Spear by Reigns and Cody hit the Cross Rhodes three straight times on Reigns for the pinfall win. After the match, Cena joined other WWE babyfaces to celebrate with the new WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
