John Cena is on his retirement tour, after calling the curtains on his wrestling career at the 2024 Money in the Bank PLE.

During a chat with The Billion Dollar Princess, the 17-time world champion got candid about his father and their complex relationship.

I love my dad. My dad’s crazy. He’s fabulous. My dad’s 80. He’s still doing independent wrestling shows. He’s still paying people off with fabulous money. He did an interview on a local television about my last match. Like, local news is like, we caught up with John Cena’s dad. My dad didn’t call me his son once. He called me John Cena.

Cena also claimed that he is thankful to his father for doing a good job raising five children, who were well off and leading their respective lives.

John Cena’s Father Was Involved In WWE Storylines

John Cena spent the majority of his career being a babyface.

Oftentimes, a wrestler’s family is written into storylines to add emotional stakes and bring heat to the heel characters.

Cena’s father partook in these narrations, especially during the star’s rivalry with Randy Orton and Edge.

During the interview, John Cena also admitted that his father was the one who introduced him to wrestling, and his participation in these storylines exhibits his support of his son.
