Update On John Cena’s Future WWE Appearances, How Many Left?
The John Cena retirement tour continues as he heads towards another main event match at WWE Money in the Bank.
We are nearly midway through the year 2025, which is John Cena’s final year as an active WWE wrestler. Cena has made it clear that this will be his final year as a wrestler, as he can no longer physically perform at the same level he once did. Age catches up to all of us, including Cena at 48.
With over six months to go until his retirement match at some point in December, it has already been a history-making year for John Cena since he won a record-breaking 17th WWE World Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Cena also shockingly turned heel, which surprised many fans, and this has also led to criticism of WWE, as the product hasn’t been as strong, even with Cena in a rare heel role.
In his final year as a WWE superstar, Cena was expected to make 36 appearances on WWE television this year. That’s not matches, that’s just appearances. Currently, Cena has made 15 appearances so far and has 21 appearances left.
According to Fightful, Cena is currently advertised to appear at the following events. Some of them will be matches, while other nights will just be appearances.
- June 7 – WWE Money in the Bank in Los Angeles, CA
- June 9 – WWE Raw in Phoenix, AZ
- June 13 – WWE SmackDown in Lexington, KY
- June 20 – WWE SmackDown in Grand Rapids, MI
- June 27 – WWE SmackDown in Saudi Arabia
- June 28 – WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia
- August 8 – WWE SmackDown in Montreal, QC, Canada
- August 22 – WWE SmackDown in Dublin, Ireland
- August 29 – WWE SmackDown in Lyon, France
- August 31 – WWE Clash in Paris in Paris, France
- October 11 – WWE Crown Jewel: Perth in Perth, Australia
SummerSlam isn’t listed above, but it seems likely that Cena will appear at SummerSlam on either August 2nd or August 3rd. This will be the first year where SummerSlam is a two-night event.
It has been rumored that John Cena’s final match could take place in Boston, near his hometown, in December at a Saturday Night’s Main Event television special.
John Cena’s Body Is Beat Up
During a recent with Stephanie McMahon on ESPN’s Stephanie’s Places, John Cena explained why he decided to retire this year.
I can’t even do these lifts anymore because my body’s so beat up. So, as soon as I got through that jagged pill of like, ‘Oh man, I’m never gonna overhead press 375 pounds ever again. But let’s work to see what best I can for today is.’ You know, it’s a very similar course to WWE.
My skills are on regress. If I continue at a full-time physical capability or involvement, I’m not gonna run right, my partner is not gonna run right, and our relationship isn’t gonna run right. Sorry, kid, it’s time to close this chapter. I wish I was 18. I wish I felt great because I don’t feel more at home, besides in the arms of my wife, than I do on a canvas.
The WWE Champion, John Cena, will be in action at WWE Money in the Bank on June 7th when he teams up with Logan Paul against Cody Rhodes and the World Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso, in the main event.
