John Cena to take next step in long WWE goodbye.

It’s widely believed that John Cena will wrestle his final match on December 13 at the TD Garden in Boston. Although an official announcement is yet to be made, numerous reports have stated that it’s only a matter of time.

This has left Cena with just seven dates left before he hangs up his jorts, so every appearance is taking on extra significance.

With Cena’s retirement moving ever closer, a new report from Wrestle Votes has suggested that some within WWE are expecting his appearance on the September 5 edition of SmackDown to be his last.

If this does prove to be the case, Cena will have made his first and last SmackDown appearances in the same building.

We’re told some within WWE are quietly expecting tomorrow night to be John Cena’s final SmackDown. According to a source, with only seven remaining dates left—and just two yet to be announced—it’s unlikely another will be a SmackDown event, meaning Cena will have debuted and ended his run on the blue brand in the very same building, Chicago’s Allstate Arena.

Kurt Angle Rules Himself Out Of John Cena Retirement Run

John Cena famously made his main roster debut on the June 27, 2002, episode of SmackDown, where he challenged Kurt Angle. Although Cena was packed with “Ruthless Aggression,” it was Angle who got the win.

However, there was little doubt that the company thought a lot of Cena, as he was praised by The Undertaker backstage.

During a recent interview, Kurt Angle admitted that while he’d love to face Cena during his retirement tour, physically, he’s unable to wrestle.

Angle has stated on several occasions that he would have loved to have faced Cena in his own retirement match at WrestleMania 35. In the end, Angle bowed out with a defeat to Baron Corbin.
