How John Cena Really Feels About The Rock & Travis Scott Abandoning WWE Run

John Cena and The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber

John Cena has given his most candid response yet to The Rock and Travis Scott abandoning him after his WWE heel turn.

At Elimination Chamber in early 2025, John Cena shocked the world when he turned heel, attacking Cody Rhodes and aligning himself with The Rock and Travis Scott. Cena’s momentum carried him to winning the 17th WWE Title of his career at WrestleMania 41, but on the grandest stage of them all, The Rock was missing, leaving only the rap star Scott to lend a helping hand.

Neither The Rock nor Travis Scott has been seen in WWE since. Scott was rumoured to have fallen out with the company, with Jelly Roll apparently taking his place in a match at SummerSlam. As a result of being left all alone, John Cena’s heel run floundered, and he aborted it completely before SummerSlam, where he lost the WWE Championship back to Cody Rhodes.

John Cena Won’t Trade His WWE Magic For Anything

Cena is painfully pragmatic in interviews, but now, speaking at Fan Expo New Orleans, he has opened up to an extent. Asked if he could replace any match on his retirement tour with a dream bout, Cena gave the biggest insight yet into how he felt his partnership with The Rock and Travis Scott could have gone:

There’s a perspective out there that I will dodge questions like that, so I will lean into that. I will lean into why I say what I like to say. I just don’t think like that. If I were to say, ‘Oh man, I wish after I turned heel that The Rock and Travis Scott were on my team.’ That would be pretty cool, right? Yeah, they’re crazy megastars and having them would be pretty cool, but we didn’t. That’s what happened.

Yes, the Rock and Travis Scott probably would have been great. Who knows? It didn’t happen. What I got in return, instead of wishing in some fantasy element that I can’t control, what I got in return was magic and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. [h/t Fightful]
