John Cena Expected To Face Top WWE Star On Retirement Tour
The John Cena retirement tour will likely see the former WWE Champion in a first-time ever matchup against a big name.
There are still about five months left to go in 2024, but for a lot of WWE fans, they are looking ahead to 2025 because of what John Cena recently announced.
During the Money in the Bank PLE in Toronto, John Cena informed the fans that 2025 will be his final year competing in a WWE ring. That means he is planning to retire as an in-ring computer after making his debut on the main roster in 2002, which means he will have a 23-year career on the main roster.
While Cena has not officially announced a retirement date, he did state that 2025 will be his final Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania PLE appearance as far as in-ring matches go.
It has been reported that John Cena’s retirement tour is expected to run from January to December 2025, with reports suggesting he’ll compete at around 40 dates.
Since the news of Cena’s impending retirement came out, plenty of people from Cena’s post have spoken about wanting to face or team with Cena again while many wrestlers who have never faced Cena will likely want to compete against a man who WWE calls the “Greatest of All Time” regularly.
The WRKDWrestling Twitter/X account, which has got plenty of news stories right in the past, reports that top WWE Raw star GUNTHER is likely to be a Cena opponent at a PLE show.
“John Cena vs. Gunther is currently penned in as a marquee PLE match for Cena’s retirement tour.”

John Cena Expected To Have Heavy Presence When Raw Heads To Netflix
The WWE Raw brand is heading to Netflix in January 2025 after coming to a massive five-year agreement with WWE that could turn into a ten-year deal, which has been reported as a $5 billion deal.
It was reported recently by WRKD Wrestling that Cena is likely going to have a “heavy presence” during Raw’s early run on Netflix, which means Cena will likely be present for a lot of Raw episodes to start the new year.
