John Cena wants to wrestle in the UK before he retires.

During a surprise appearance at Money In The Bank 2023 in London, John Cena called on WWE to bring WrestleMania to the UK.

Although it seemed Cena’s pleas were a crowd-pleasing long shot, there could have been a lot more to it. On July 25th it was revealed that Triple H and Nick Khan had travelled to London to meet Mayor Sadiq Khan. The meeting came after Sadiq Khan went public with his desire to bring WrestleMania to London back in April.

The trio met to discuss their “shared ambition” to hold WrestleMania in London. The Mayor later described the talks as “productive,” adding it was exciting to be working with the sports entertainment giant.

In a new interview with talkSPORT, Cena said he wants to wrestle in the UK again before he retires in 2025, before breaking down why he wants WrestleMania to travel across the pond.

“I really hope so. As you know, I’m retiring from in-ring performing next year and we’ll start in January and we’ll do our last match in December 2025. I really hope there are some UK dates involved in that farewell. I meant what I said, and I said the same thing in Canada, the UK and Canada have been such strong supporters of the WWE, through thick and thin.

I campaigned for WrestleMania to be located in London because I think London has absolutely earned the right to host the Grandest Stage of Them All. Nick Khan and Triple H were just there talking to the mayor of London.

Hopefully, I don’t know, things work out and maybe WrestleMania in London in the future. It’s not going to happen in 2025, so unfortunately, I won’t have a match there, but if it does, I will absolutely be there as a fan,”

WWE Star Wants To Retire John Cena

After his retirement announcement, WWE stars both past and present quickly started lining up to get a shot at the legend. However, there’s one up-and-coming Superstar in particular who seems determined to end Cena’s career.

After saying it would be “great” to face the star, Bron Breakker told him to “grow some balls” and challenge for his newly won Intercontinental Title.

Breakker has since said it would be his ultimate dream match to retire Cena.
