John Cena Explains “Might Be The Last Time” Comment

John Cena has tried to give context to something he said recently.

Last week, John Cena made an appearance on RAW to officially confirm that his rumored match with Austin Theory will indeed be taking place at WrestleMania 39.

But hidden among all the hoopla around that announcement was another comment that didn’t get as much attention.

On March 7th, John Cena posted a tweet saying that his appearance in that venue “might be his last”, which led to speculation that he may be on the verge of retirement.

However, John Cena spoke to AP News and explained that that message got misinterpreted and that he isn’t approaching the end of his career…at least, not yet.

“I tried to put it in words in Twitter. I guess I didn’t explain myself correctly. It was the first time I came out into the arena knowing that this has a definitive end.

Normally, you come out, you get all excited, OK, this is the next one and I’m waiting for the next one. I’m not done, of course. I made that statement accepting a match at WrestleMania so I know I have at least one more in front of me.

But what I was trying to convey was, that was the first time I looked at all that excitement and energy and realized this is the twilight of that journey.”

At WrestleMania 39, John Cena will face Austin Theory for the United States Championship.
