John Cena Finally Explains Brock Lesnar’s Squash

WWE expected John Cena’s retirement to be an outright hit with the fans.

Evidently, that has not been the case.

Many people believe his squash match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza to be one of the lowest points of the retirement tour.

Lesnar returned to the Stamford promotion after two years by shockingly appearing at SummerSlam. Its main event had just seen a brutal match between Cena and Cody Rhodes, who defeated the outgoing superstar to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The Beast Incarnate had last fought at the same premium live event in 2023, losing to Cody Rhodes in a singles match.

As John Cena stood in the ring looking shellshocked, Lesnar sauntered to the ring and hit his long-standing rival with an F5.

At Wrestlepalooza, which was WWE’s first PLE on ESPN in the United States, Lesnar dominated the match, hitting as many as 6 F5s before covering him for a successful pinfall.

The bout lasted less than 9 minutes, leaving fans in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and viewers worldwide dejected.

John Cena addressed the lack of minutes allotted for the match during a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight, stating that the fight may have quick, but his body felt the opposite.

Well, I guess quick is perspective, because my frame didn’t feel like it was.

John Cena Accidently Reveals Brock Lesnar’s Retirement

John Cena may have accidentally revealed that Brock Lesnar will retire in 2026 at SummerSlam, which is scheduled to take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

You have to figure out who gets the shine that night and if, in his return again, only my perspective. This attraction where we are going to build until he goes into the sunset, which is, I think, in Minnesota?

Creatively, it’s very soon. To create a mountain to climb for someone, you have to build the mountain. I’m on my way out. It’s not like it’s gonna hurt me, but I’m a viable commodity, and it’s a great main event. See these two titans for the last time, and it’s ok. Sometimes your team gets blown out.

We were first on the program. I did the best I could. We all did the best we could to make it a competitive fight into the middle. People forget I was in that arena when Brock fell down for the first time on the shoulder tackle, and then I was able to give them all the stuff. They were into it, and then just a bunch of gratuitous F5’s. That’s how you build Brock.
