John Cena Claims There Are Many Storyline Easter Eggs Fans Will Never Spot
Speaking to The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes, John Cena brought attention to how storytelling works in wrestling from the point of view of the wrestlers versus the point of view of the audience. He claimed that art, once it’s out, belongs to the fans and that he can only give them everything he has and then be okay with them ripping him to shreds if need be.
Cena went on to say that there are many easter eggs in his Firefly Funhouse match against Bray Wyatt that fans will never get, but it’s theirs to interpret and ponder over. He also shed light on the dynamics between himself and Cody Rhodes for instance, where there would be a lot of personal inside stories that they would sometimes choose not to show.
“this is the story I’m trying to tell. The Funhouse..The Firefly Funhouse. There’s like a million easter eggs in there that no one will ever get but it’s theirs now. The last match, our match, our first match our promos. There’s so much attitude and emotion and inside stories there. A lot of times, we would get together in conversations and you would have stuff and be like “ i think that’s too inside”. And I applaud you..very wise..yes, that is what John would think. Hi I’m Cody and this is what I think and this is what we’re gonna do. (43:40 onwards)
