Why John Cena Should Never Face Brock Lesnar Again

Brock Lesnar F5 John Cena WWE

John Cena and Brock Lesnar renewed their historic rivalry at Wrestlepalooza 2025, after Lesnar made a shocking comeback to WWE following a two-year absence.

The match took place on September 20, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Lesnar dominated the contest from start to finish, delivering multiple F5s and defeating Cena in the fight. This one-sided victory marked what could be their final showdown before Cena’s retirement.

Fans immediately voiced their desire to see Cena get a rematch and finally defeat Lesnar before stepping away from the ring. The appeal was rooted in the hope that Cena could close his career by overcoming the only major rival who has repeatedly defeated him in high-profile matches.

Bully Ray Says John Cena Beating Brock Lesnar in Another Match Would Have No Meaning

However, wrestling legend Bully Ray analyzed the situation on the Busted Open Radio podcast and offered a different perspective. He explained that, while anything is possible in professional wrestling, having Cena face Lesnar again and win would not actually benefit anyone.

According to him, Cena getting a victory at this stage would lack impact because Lesnar has already established dominance over him, and the purpose of Lesnar’s previous victories was to position Lesnar as an unstoppable force.

When another superstar eventually defeats Lesnar, it will carry more significance, especially since Lesnar destroyed Cena so thoroughly. Bully Ray expressed that it’s preferable for Cena to defeat a different opponent as part of his farewell run, rather than focus on avenging himself against Lesnar.

“It’s pro wrestling, anything can happen, but I think that if John would have faced Brock again, it doesn’t do anything for anybody. Yay! John got a win. Who cares? I’d rather see John beat somebody else than beat Brock. Brock destroyed John already, and that was so Brock can move on. Somebody is going to eventually beat Brock, and it’s going to mean even more because Brock destroyed Cena.”
