R-Truth shocked the pro-wrestling industry when he announced he had been released from WWE.

The WWE veteran took to social media on June 1, 2025, revealing that his time with the wrestling juggernaut had come to an end. He expressed his gratitude to the fans and WWE as he bid farewell to a remarkable 17-year tenure.

The unexpected departure sent waves of shock through the fandom, especially since R-Truth’s recent storyline was against Universal WWE Champion John Cena with a high-profile match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, 2025.

The Champ worked an interesting feud against the WWE veteran in recent months. The feud started at Backlash 2025 where Truth intervened during Cena vs. Orton. Despite him trying to help The Franchise Player, Cena turned on him by executing an Attitude Adjustment through a table.

They worked a non-title match at SNME where Truth entered the arena wearing a John Cena-inspired gear, but it read ‘Ron Cena’. Despite the homage, Cena secured a victory over R-Truth.

Following the news of his release, The Leader of Cenation posted a picture of R-Truth in the John Cena-inspired T-shirt as a form of tribute to the WWE veteran. While there was no caption, a happy picture of R-Truth seems to be the ideal way of remembering the contributions he has made to the industry for nearly two decades.
