John Cena Breaks Silence On The Rock & Travis Scott WWE Controversy

The Rock John Cena WWE

At Elimination Chamber 2025, John Cena shocked everyone by turning heel.

In doing so, he aligned with The Rock, who, for weeks, had been stalking Cody Rhodes, demanding that he align with him.

The Elimination Chamber PLE was no different, as The Final Boss made his way out with Travis Scott while Rhodes congratulated Cena for becoming the #1 contender to his title.

The Rock again asked The American Nightmare for an answer, who viciously turned him down. Cena pretended to hug Cody and hit him with a low blow.

What followed was a savage beatdown, which unfortunately left Rhodes with a ruptured eardrum courtesy of Travis Scott.

WWE fans watched WrestleMania 41 in anticipation of seeing what stunt The Rock would pull off next, only for them to be left disappointed, as he never showed up. In fact, his Elimination Chamber appearance was his last.

John Cena recently appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight, where he was asked about the original plan involving The Rock and Travis Scott.

Cena successfully dodged the question by speaking about stuff around it.

Who cares? It doesn’t matter. We can talk about what could have been until the cows come home. And I think that’s what’s great about the people who are left standing. Certainly me and Cody.

What’s the change? This? All right, let’s go. I don’t dwell for one second on what could have been, because what could have been is Brock doesn’t leave for the NFL and there’s no John Cena.

John Cena Addresses Skepticism Surrounding Retirement

In the wrestling business, retirement is never permanent.

Over time, fans have seen superstars return despite claiming that they have retired. A good storyline or a decent paycheck is all it takes for them to go back on their word.

John Cena, meanwhile, has remained steadfast, often reiterating that he’s officially done after Saturday Night’s Main Event.

But fans refuse to believe him. WWE has seemingly even advertised his next appearance.

When asked by Vliet about his thoughts on people not buying into his retirement, Cena said that he was fine with that.

I love that, and I don’t knock them for that. Because this has never been done before. Wrestlers don’t retire. So to be the first one, you’re gonna run into some scepticism.
