John Cena Makes Surprising Admission About Hollywood Career

WWE John Cena

John Cena loves professional wrestling.

Although he’s continued to wrestle, John Cena’s full-time WWE career effectively ended in 2017. Since then, his wrestling schedule has shrunk dramatically as his acting career in Hollywood has taken off.

Fast forward to 2025, and Cena has promised to retire, signalling that his full attention will switch to acting. However, it seems he’ll never have the same love for his new career as he did for his first one.

While appearing at Fan Expo Dallas, Cena was asked whether he prefers acting or wrestling, and he explained why the answer is simple.

“You know, acting, they hurt your feelings a lot, too. I don’t know if you’ve seen some of my stuff or read the reviews. They will hurt your feelings. To be quite honest, and this is not a knock, I don’t think this is going to lose me any movie jobs because I do give my all to every opportunity I have. Just like we’re here today, I’m trying to answer all your questions.

I love wrestling so much more. So much more. There’s no denying the magic in an arena for a live WWE broadcast. I love wrestling so much more and I’m fine saying that. If that knocks me out of the movie business, I’ll be accountable for saying that.”

John Cena Makes Night Of Champions Promise

In recent weeks, John Cena has promised that fans will see “something awesome” at Night of Champions as criticism of his heel turn continues to flood social media.

At the event in Saudi Arabia, Cena is scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk. The pair have a rivalry that stretches back several years, with the latest flashpoint coming on the June 20 edition of SmackDown, where Cena dropped his own version of Punk’s famous pipebomb.
