John Cena Facing 4-Time WWE Champion In Final Match
John Cena’s final match is on December 13th, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
His Farewell Tour started in January 2025, and he has had quite the moments during the tour. Two of the most notable moments were his turning heel at Elimination Chamber 2025 and dethroning Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 to become the record-breaking 17-time world champion.
With the final match coming closer, the global juggernaut has yet to decide Cena’s final opponent.
John Cena can face a former world champion for his final match
As per Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is being penciled down for John Cena’s final match.
Two sources have confirmed that the latest plan is for a tournament to be announced, possibly on the air by Paul Levesque, with top wrestlers vying to be Cena’s last opponent. But multiple have confirmed however it reaches the conclusion, that Gunther was the person chosen for the match.

There have been other names in the mix, such as Drew McIntyre and Jey Uso. In fact, The YEET Master was the one to eliminate him at Royal Rumble, so having Uso be the final match would have been a full circle.
Furthermore, backstage reports suggest that internally, WWE is aware that John Cena’s retirement tour hasn’t been as successful as anticipated. Keeping that in mind, Triple H will need to book a blockbuster final match!
