Joe Hendry Reveals Who Really Benefits From TNA/WWE Relationship
Joe Hendry has discussed how he feels the TNA & WWE relationship is going as he takes the advice John Cena once gave to Cody Rhodes.
On the July 9th episode of NXT, Joe Hendry made a winning return to WWE teaming with Trick Williams to beat Ethan Page and Shawn Spears.
The Scottish star has arguably been the biggest beneficiary of WWE’s new link-up with TNA having seen his popularity explode. Hendry made his full WWE debut on the June 18th edition of NXT where he took part in a 25-man Battle Royal to determine a new number one contender for the NXT Championship.
Vic Joseph said his name so Joe Hendry appeared on the 16th of July edition of NXT as he provided commentary for The Rascalz win over Gallus which could lead to Hendry’s first proper feud in WWE.
However, Hendry has bigger fish to fry as he gets set to challenge for the TNA World Championship at Slammiversary.
Joe Hendry Heeds John Cena’s Advice
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Joe Hendry focused on his day job as he discussed what he feels his place in TNA is as he seeks to finally win the TNA World Championship after listening to the advice that John Cena gave Cody Rhodes:
Cody Rhodes spoke about this with Ariel Helwani, and it’s a principle I genuinely believe. Cody was talking to John Cena about his loss at WrestleMania [39], and Cena told him to be the champion without the belt. That really hit me. In TNA, I am the champion without the belt. Now it’s time for me to win at Slammiversary.
Regarding the relationship between TNA and WWE, Joe Hendry believes it is one that benefits everyone:
The world is waking up to the level of talent we have in TNA. We’re thrilled to work with WWE in a way that benefits everybody–NXT, TNA, and wrestling fans. And we’re going to see something special at Slammiversary. You’re about to witness a defining moment in professional wrestling.
The sold-out Slammiversary show will take place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and will see Joe Hendry, Nic Nemeth, Frankie Kazarian, Steve Maclin, and Josh Alexander challenge Moose in a six-way elimination match for the TNA World Championship.
