Joe Hendry Gets Help To Claim Huge NXT Title Shot
Joe Hendry might be part of the TNA roster but he’s set to compete for WWE gold after winning a wild number one contender’s match on NXT.
Joe Hendry has been the biggest beneficiary of the ongoing partnership between WWE and TNA, with the Scottish star being featured weekly on NXT. The 20th of August edition of NXT saw Hendry get a chance to stake his claim for Ethan Page’s NXT Championship as he faced Wes Lee and Pete Dunne in a number one contender’s triple threat match.
The wild contest saw the referee taken out and when Joe Hendry had Pete Dunne pinned, Ethan Page intervened to stop a second referee from making the count. Dunne recovered to nail Hendry with the Bitter End but with no referee in the ring, former NXT Champion Trick Williams nailed Dunne with a Trick Shot which allowed Hendry to get the cover and the original referee recovered to make the count in front of a shocked Ethan Page.
