Joe Hendry Could Join AEW Instead Of WWE For Major Reason, Says Veteran

Joe Hendry Suit

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Joe Hendry’s contract with the company ends in late 2025.

The Scottish star defeated Nic Nemeth at the Genesis pay-per-view in January 2025 to claim the belt. The following month, on February 1, 2025, Hendry became the first male wrestler from his company to enter the WWE Royal Rumble.

Ever since, he has made a few sporadic appearances, including in NXT, and rumors are now rife that WWE is where he might end up after his TNA contract expires.

However, veteran wrestler Konnan believes that Hendry may choose AEW instead due to one major reason: money.

While answering fan questions on his podcast, K100 w/ Konnan & Disco, Konnan stressed that money can be a massive factor in Joe Hendry’s pursuit of opportunities outside of WWE. Conversely, Konnan feels that the TNA Champion may choose fame over money, owing to how he’s been received by the WWE fans and the brand’s professionalism.

At present, there is no physical evidence of AEW approaching Hendry for discussions about joining them.

It will be up to Tony Khan to decide if Hendry’s acquisition will bolster AEW’s current roster. In the past, Khan has exhibited his relentlessness in acquiring high-profile talents, including Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson.

Joe Hendry’s History With WWE

Joe Hendry’s recent WWE appearances were not his first for the brand.

In a November 2014 episode of Raw, he had a non-wrestling role as a spokesperson for Rusev. He also featured as one of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds multiple times on the show.

The receptions Hendry received during the 2025 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 41 were incredible, nonetheless. If he returns to WWE, it can be a homecoming of sorts and possibly kick his stardom to new heights.
