Joaquin Wilde has commented on the incredible move that he pulled off during a WWE NXT match.
On the first episode of NXT in 2024 entitled New Year’s Evil, there was a tag team match that saw the LWO’s Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro & Carlito team up to defeat the No Quarter Catch Crew’s Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne.
Carlito was a surprise partner for the LWO team since Dragon Lee was having visa issues to prevent him from making it to the show. The match saw the babyface LWO team pick up the win when Del Toro hit 450 Splash off the top rope to get the victory.
There was one moment in the match that got a lot of attention after the show. That’s because they did a spot where Joaquin Wilde was launched off the middle rope while Del Toro & Carlito provided an assist and Wilde jumped onto his three opponents about 15 to 20 feet away from him. It was something that a lot of fans haven’t seen before.
After the move got a lot of attention with good reason, Joaquin Wilde went on social media to comment on the move while noting that he did practice the move in front of NXT’s boss Shawn Michaels as well.
“When I said I wanted to do this dive last night, I told dudes to stand 20 feet from the ring. Nobody believed that I could jump that far. Shawn Michaels himself had to talk to me and make sure I wasn’t crazy.”
“They even had me do it in rehearsal to prove it. I cleared the 20 feet in rehearsal, but it was nowhere near as pretty or spectacular as the one I did on the show. Adrenaline is powerful, what can I say? This is probably the coolest move I have done in my career and the attention it’s getting is pretty cool and surprising.”
