Why Jimmy Hart Turned Down Dark Side Of The Ring Appearance

Jimmy Hart had a very simple and noble reason for refusing to appear on Dark Side of the Ring.

As the show’s name implies, DSOTR covers various scandals, disputes, and controversial figures in the wrestling business.

Topics for its most recent season have included Abdullah the Butcher, Bam Bam Bigelow, Adrian Adonis, and the Hulk Hogan/Vince Russo confrontation at WCW Bash at the Beach 2000.

The show has been a consistent hit since its inception a few years ago, and it appears that the showrunners are already considering topics for a fifth season.

It has been speculated that one wrestler to be showcased in the future will be Brutus “the Barber” Beefcake. However, if such an episode does go into production, fans should not expect to see Jimmy Hart appear.

Jimmy Hart refuses to be on Dark Side of the Ring because of its inherent negativity

Speaking on the 200th episode of the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Jimmy Hart said that he refuses to follow the general trend of embracing negativity and drama and as a result, doesn’t want to be on a show that digs up skeletons and bad things from the past.

“In this day and age, especially since people want the drama and want to hear the bad things, I turned down a show. They had Brutus Beefcake. They were doing a Dark Side of the Ring on him.

They came to me about doing Dark Side of the Ring. I said, ‘Look, I’ll do Happy Side of the Ring, but not Dark Side of the Ring.’ We worked so hard to get a WWE Hall of Fame ring.

When we got on stage, they had great videos of us and they inducted us in a class with all the people that we were with back in the day. Then we have our peers in the audience and so many fans see us and they do so well to put us over. Why would I want to tear it down?’”
