Jim Ross Set To Work AEW All In, Names Match He Wants To Call
Jim Ross will make a popular return to AEW television at All In.
On May 15, AEW announcer Jim Ross revealed that he’d been diagnosed with colon cancer and would be undergoing treatment in the coming weeks.
The veteran quickly underwent the surgery and remained adamant that he had no plans to retire. Not only that, JR said he was determined to be back in the saddle at AEW All In on July 12.
While that timeline might have seemed optimistic, Ross announced that he was cancer-free in late June, and now plans for his commentary comeback are underway.
Jim Ross Confirms AEW All In Plans
During the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer confirmed that he’ll be flying into Texas ahead of Starrcast before returning to the announce desk at All In.
“Absolutely. I’ll be there. I’m going to fly in on Thursday and do our business on Friday and then I’ll be at the pay-per-view on Saturday.”
Later in the episode, Ross went on to praise Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada, before admitting that he’d love to call their huge unification match in Arlington, Texas. The long-time rivals are set to meet with both the International and Continental Championships on the line. The winner will be known as the Unified Champion.
“I don’t know what match I have. I know what matches I’d like to have, but you know, Tony Khan takes good care of me with match selection. I appreciate that, he looks out for my style and my well-being in that regard.
Okada, I mentioned Okada and Kenny Omega, well that’s one of the featured matches on Saturday’s show. I hope I get the call to participate in that presentation. That’s something an announcer can only dream about and I dream about it all the time because I have a great respect for both of those guys.
I feel like they’re probably going to be in a position to close the show or close to it.”
Ross hasn’t worked an AEW event since joining the commentary desk at Dynasty back in April. In the main event, Jon Moxley defeated Swerve Strickland to retain the AEW World Championship.
