Jim Ross Supports Vince McMahon’s Shock Message To WWE Stars
Vince McMahon took an interesting approach to motivating WWE talent but Jim Ross fully supported his former boss and questioned how much babysitting talent needs.
Jim Ross discussed the 2004 Royal Rumble and the time around it in WWE on his Grilling JR podcast where he defended Vince McMahon for his questionable motivation techniques as he threatened talent with being fired.
Jim Ross Echoes Vince McMahon’s Message
It was noted that at a SmackDown meeting at the time, Vince McMahon told talent words to the effect of “some of the talent has to do things better or some of the talent might be flipping burgers in a few months.” When it was noted that reports at the time suggested this might not be the best motivation for talent, Jim Ross very much disagreed:
I look at it as a challenge and a challenge to do better and refine your work. We’ve been too easy on these guys for all these years, at least that’s what I thought at the time.
Maybe it wasn’t talent-friendly but God damn, how much babysitting can you do? How much “It’s ok, don’t worry, we’ll take care of it…” no, bullsh*t. Be responsible and that’s all we were asking, be responsible and understand and know your role.
Vince McMahon is facing an amended lawsuit from a former WWE employee detailing even more sickening allegations against the ex-WWE owner.
