Jim Ross Shares Update On Health And AEW Future

Jim Ross in AEW

Jim Ross will be at AEW Worlds End.

Despite battling several health issues throughout the year, Jim Ross is looking to end 2024 on a high. Although those health problems caused him to miss Double or Nothing, he’s feeling positive with Worlds End around the corner.

The event is set to come live from the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida, and according to Ross, he’ll be there.

While looking ahead to the show on his Grilling JR podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer said it will likely be his next assignment.

“I’m gonna be at the next AEW pay-per-view, it’s gonna be emanating from Orlando later this month. I think that’ll be my next assignment. Tony’s been putting me in the two main events, the last two matches of the pay-per-view.

So hopefully that’ll continue. I figure it will. I haven’t heard anything differently. But that’s a nice trip for me. That’s a car trip, and no airplanes,”

Jim Ross Is On The Mend

With regard to his health, Ross said that things have improved immensely, although he’s still receiving treatment for the wound caused by radiation treatment for skin cancer in 2023. In typical JR fashion, he added that he refuses to complain about his health because “that don’t heal nothing.”

My health has improved immensely. I got my nurse who comes by twice a week, checks my vitals, dresses my wound. Can you believe that that would, which was a result of 22 radiation treatments for skin cancer, is still being nursed over a year [later]?

The good news is that it’s healing. It’s shrinking, and that’s important for me. I’d like to get the bandages off and move on, but I’ve adjusted well. It’s just the way it is.

I’m not gonna bitch and moan about poor me. That don’t heal nothing, and nobody wants to hear that sh*t. I don’t. So things are good,”

Jim Ross signed a new one-year deal with AEW in March 2024 which will see him call pay-per-views without being involved on Dynamite, Collision, or Rampage. Upon signing the deal, Ross said he expects it to be his last as an announcer.
