Jim Ross Backs The Undertaker For New WWE Role

The Undertaker

The Undertaker is the perfect man to help guide the next generation, according to Jim Ross.

AAA hosted Triplemania XXXIII on August 16, and WWE’s fingerprints were all over the show. From featuring in several matches, including the main event, to Triple H, Nick Khan, and Shawn Michaels appearing at the start of the event,

Triple H and Khan also addressed the AAA locker room before the event got underway.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Triple H noted that The Undertaker has become a “driving force” behind AAA, while it was reported that he’s expected to be involved with the brand going forward.

This came after several reports suggested that the WWE Hall of Famer’s influence is only growing backstage after being on hand for Worlds Collide.

Jim Ross Talks Up The Undertaker

On the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross gave his thoughts on The Undertaker’s reported new backstage role. While looking back on their lengthy time working together, Ross said that ‘Taker is every inch the leader people claimed him to be, and a vital figure behind the scenes.

“Not a surprise. He’s a leader, and leaders lead.

He helped me so much as the Head of Talent Relations when a talent had an issue or a problem, or was a problem, he just was the Rock of Gibraltar, shall we say.

He just never let you down. You could always depend on The Undertaker. And pro-wrestlers at times have been known to not be as dependable, and Taker was always – he was our Clint Eastwood, our John Wayne, whatever you wanna say.

He was reliable, dependable and he had plenty of time to help the talent, so he was a leader in and out of the locker room. I was blessed to have him as a part of our team when I was in that role.

He’s the kind of guy that you can say, ‘Hey Take, we need some help with this guy, he’s close but he’s not there yet, how can we facilitate his progression and his evolution?’ Taker’s the kind of guy that can look at a talent and come up with solutions to that talent’s problem or problems and take it from there.”

Ross went on to explain that ‘Taker’s value was shown by his desire to be a team player, rather than try and take the spot of someone else.

“He’s a really valuable asset. I don’t know of anybody on the roster that adds more or can add more than Taker does to the roster. He’s so well-respected that when he says something, talents believe it. Because it’s true.

He’s not looking for their spot, he’s looking to help them get better, and the more that they improve, the better off everybody is. So he’s a team guy. I could think of a million roles that he could be involved in, but basically working with talent is first and foremost and primary.

There’s hardly any roles that Taker can’t fulfill and add to and help, because he has a clean agenda. He wants to help the team get better, and the way you help the team get better is you develop their skillset and how they manage themselves, how they work in the ring, and things of that nature.

There’s no company that can have too many Undertakers on their roster, he’s just that valuable. It’s unfortunate there’s not enough guys like him in the wrestling business that can contribute. He’s just pretty damned amazing.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Stephanie McMahon confirmed that The Undertaker’s involvement in AAA wasn’t a one off. It’s believed that Shawn Michaels is also involved to a degree, adding to rumours that WWE is looking to make AAA “NXT Mexico.”

During Triplemania, it was announced that Worlds Collide will return on September 12 in Las Vegas.
