Jim Ross Says AEW Collision Is “A Lot Calmer” Than Dynamite
Jim Ross has compared the atmosphere on AEW’s two biggest shows.
JR made his return to television on the August 5th episode of Collision to call the main event match between CM Punk and Ricky Starks. Having previously announced Dynamite and the Rampage taping immediately after, this was Ross’ second appearance on the Saturday night show.
Speaking on the Grilling JR podcast, the veteran ring announcer said that he enjoyed being on Collision, finding it to be less stressful than Dynamite:
“The atmosphere at Collision, in my opinion, is entirely different than the mindset and the atmosphere at Dynamite. There’s less people, less crew, less talents, so it’s a lot calmer. I think the talents have more time to work their matches out. It’s just a different atmosphere, and it’s a good atmosphere. Always fun. Good seeing the talents.
We got a good crew going. I think Punk and Tony Khan pretty much put that roster together, and I like it. That’s good talents. They’re motivated. They like the ownership of that show and the fact that they can make a difference, and I think that’s cool. All good, man. I’m looking to it. I enjoy being around the talent.”
JR will be making his return to Dynamite on the August 16th episode, appearing in a sit-down interview segment with Kenny Omega.
Jim Ross Health Update
The Hall of Fame announcer has been away from the desk due to an injury sustained while travelling to the debut broadcast of Collision. Suffering a fall that resulted in a black eye and a concussion, JR thanked Tony Khan for allowing him all the time that he needed to make a full recovery before returning to work.
