Jim Ross Was “P*ssed” At Infamous Brock Lesnar Spot
Jim Ross has revealed that he was less than impressed with one particular Brock Lesnar WrestleMania moment.
At WrestleMania XIX Brock Lesnar met World Champion Kurt Angle in the main event. Despite the card featuring the last WrestleMania match between The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, it was Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship win that topped card.
While the match had everything that a WrestleMania main event required, something even more impressive as Angle was carrying an injury at the time, it’s remembered for one particular spot that went wrong.
As the match headed towards it’s conclusion, Brock Lesnar stunned fans by climbing to the top rope. He then took things one step further by attempting a Shooting Star Press. Although he had successfully hit the move while in developmental, on the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All’ he didn’t quite get enough rotation and landed on his head and neck, knocking himself out in the process.
Reflecting on the spot on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross explained that he was “p*ssed” at The Beast for attempting the move, as he didn’t think it was needed.
“I don’t need to see a 300-pound man doing a Shooting Star Press, and when he did it at WrestleMania XIX, I was pissed. Why do it? It’s a spot. That’s all it is, and a guy that’s a national champion should be able to convincingly beat his adversary in various ways without risking his godd*amn career.”
Fast forward to 2022 and Brock Lesnar has his eyes on championship gold once more. At SummerSlam The Beast will meet Roman Reigns in a Last Man Standing Match with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line.
