Jim Ross No Longer Under AEW Contract
A new report provides an update on Jim Ross’ AEW contract and whether he’s in negotiations for a new deal.
Jim Ross has been with All Elite Wrestling since the beginning, and he was instrumental in helping the company secure a TV deal as one of the most well-known and beloved names in professional wrestling history.
Back in July, Ross revealed on his Grilling JR podcast that he didn’t have much time left on his current AEW deal, and in August, it was reported that JR’s contract would be expiring in September. According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE Hall of Famer’s contract is indeed up, and he is negotiating a new deal with the company. Dave Meltzer wrote:
“Jim Ross’ contract is either up or about to be up and he’s still working as they negotiate a new deal. It was up in September from what we were told and Ross on his podcast said that they were in talks for a new deal.”
Jim Ross Commentated At AEW WrestleDream
Despite his contract expiring in September, Jim Ross was on commentary for a portion of WrestleDream on October 1st, calling the bout between Wheeler Yuta and Ricky Starks and the highly-praised match between Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr.
While Jim Ross could go to another promotion if he chose to do so, he confirmed back in August that he’s happy working with AEW and wants to stay there for the duration of his career.
