Jim Ross Keeping Silent On AEW Whereabouts
Questions continue to swirl about the status of AEW commentator Jim Ross after he missed the company’s last few pay-per-views.
Jim Ross is a pro wrestling announcing legend whose history in the business dates back decades. As his career starts to wind down, he’s currently still a part of the AEW broadcast team, although his role is limited to lending his experience and gravitas to the company’s pay-per-view main events.
However, JR has been notable by his absence from the last few events, and it seems it might be down to his ongoing health battles.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shed some light on where Jim Ross might be, although he noted the WWE Hall of Famer is remaining tight-lipped about it all:
He’s back in Oklahoma, I think, I’m not sure of that. I presume it’s a health issue. He’s not gonna not be at the pay-per-views if it’s not a health issue. Whatever it is, he has not talked about it. I’ve had a little contact with him, and he has not mentioned it; he’s actually avoided the subject. So I don’t know what’s going on.
Jim Ross Caught Up In Racism Storm
A WWE Hall of Famer recently accused Jim Ross of racism during their time working in WWE. D-Von Dudley made little attempt to hide who he was talking about when he discussed his experience of racism in the wrestling business:
You know, I didn’t wear a ten-gallon hat or anything, but my point was, when a person comes up to you and tells you they don’t like you because of the color of your skin, you sit there thinking, ‘Wow, really? We’re in 1999 or 2000, and you’re still saying cr*p like this?’
There were certain people in that organization in that time that felt that I should not have said anything, who had the power to basically bury me if need be just because I might have stood up for what I felt was right.
D-Von Dudley eventually named Jim Ross as the WWE official that he was talking about, eliminating any doubt about his accusation.
