Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler Reunion Strictly Up To AEW’s Tony Khan

Jim Ross Jerry Lawler

With Jerry Lawler now out of his talent deal with WWE, Jim Ross thinks there’s a chance he could be reunited with his long-time partner.

On May 6th, it was reported that Jerry Lawler’s WWE contract had expired, and the company had decided against offering him a new one.

That got many long-time fans wondering if Lawler could reunite with his long-time broadcast partner and current AEW announcer Jim Ross in the near future. However, it was later clarified that Lawler is still under a WWE Legends deal which would likely prohibit him from doing any work for AEW.

However, there might still be hope for an Attitude Era reunion but it’s up to AEW’s boss to make happen.

Jim Ross Puts Jerry Lawler Ball In Tony Khan’s Court

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross was asked if he could reunite with Jerry Lawler and said it’s all down to Tony Khan:

I don’t think it’s a dead issue. For me, I’m an AEW guy so that brings it back to – to answer your question, it’s strictly up to Tony Khan. Having JR and The King call a match, a couple of matches at a big event is not beyond the realm of comprehension.

It hasn’t been discussed as far as I’m aware of but Tony’s full of surprises and there’s a certain aura of marketability putting JR and The King back together. I don’t think weekly at all but occasionally it could work.

Jim Ross recently admitted he’s closing in on retirement after signing a new one-year deal with AEW in March. The commentary legend noted at the time that it would be realistic to think the contract would be his last as an announcer.
