Jim Ross To Share Health Update Amid Colon Cancer Battle
Jim Ross is preparing to release a special episode of his podcast.
On May 15, Jim Ross announced that he’d been diagnosed with colon cancer and would soon be undergoing surgery.
The legendary announcer has dealt with numerous serious health problems in recent years, including a battle with skin cancer, although he was later given the all-clear. Ross famously defied doctors’ orders to fly to Greensboro, North Carolina, to call Sting’s last match in early 2024.

In a post on social media, Conrad Thompson, Ross’ regular co-host on his Grilling JR podcast, said the WWE Hall of Famer wants to give fans an update on his health on May 26.

Jim Ross began his career in wrestling back in 1974, working as a referee before making his mark as an announcer. JR went on to earn a reputation as arguably the greatest play-by-play commentator in wrestling history, with stints with Mid-South Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, WCW, WWE, NJPW, and AEW.
After calling many of the most famous moments in WWE history and signing some of the biggest names wrestling has ever seen in his backstage role, Ross joined AEW in 2019.
