Jim Ross Excited By Injured AEW Star’s Impending Return

Jim Ross in AEW

A former champion in AEW is set to return to action and Jim Ross is looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Julia Hart is one of the youngest AEW wrestlers on the roster at just 23 years of age, but she has already accomplished a lot in the company.

At AEW Full Gear 2023 about one year ago, Julia Hart won her only championship in AEW by beating Kris Statlander for the TBS Champion. Hart went on to hold the title for 155 days while also being linked to the House of Black group.

After missing the last six months due to a shoulder injury that required surgery, Hart has been featured in videos on AEW programming to promote her return to the company.

Jim Ross has been with AEW since day one in January 2019 and has seen Hart develop as a superstar before his eyes. While Ross is no longer calling AEW weekly television, he still works for the company.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross spoke about the Julia Hart vignettes.

“The Julia Hart vignette was excellent. I’m a big fan of hers, too. She’s adorably evil and very very talented. She has great crowd psychology of facial expressions. She could tell you a great story by looking into her pretty face. It’s good to see her getting back at it, 100 percent healthy.”

This week’s Julia Hart vignette interrupted an interview with Jamie Hayter, so it could lead to a rivalry between the two women.

Jim Ross Clarifies Comments About Mercedes Mone In AEW

Julia Hart is a former TBS Champion. The current TBS Champion is Mercedes Mone, who debuted in AEW earlier this year with a lot of fanfare. After Ross said he hadn’t felt a connection to Mone in AEW yet, he made more comments about Mone that provided clarity for how he felt about Mone as a performer.

“One thing that’s on my mind that I want to clear up. I said something regarding Mercedes Mone that, you know, she had not rung my bell, shall we say. That was no disrespect meant to her. It’s all depending on how you’re booked and who you’re working with, and the scenario, the storyline.

I think she’s been short of storyline, and so therefore I haven’t got to feel that grit and that aggression. She’s very athletic and she’s a beautiful woman, but golly, she could be used a lot more efficiently, I think. I’m not knocking the company, but she’s a significant investment. I’m anxious to see how it all works out…

I’m a big fan of her work. It’s just, I think, you know, she could be even more effective. The best is yet to come for her. So I just want to clear that up.”

Mercedes Mone is scheduled to defend the AEW TBS Title against Kris Statlander at the Full Gear PPV on November 23rd.
