Jim Ross Denies Being A Racist, Interested In Interacting With Accuser

Jim Ross Reveals Vince McMahon Used A Fellow Announcer To Bully Him On Air

WWE commentary legend Jim Ross has been accused of being a racist by this former WWE star.

The voice of wrestling, Jim Ross (JR), has long been an integral part of how mainstream wrestling was consumed around the world. His decades-long career in WWE has seen Ross achieve legendary status with his sharp, precise, and emotive commentary that helped make WWE’s matches and moments twice as memorable and impactful for a generation of wrestling fans.

Jim Ross, who is known by the nickname “Good ol’ JR,” has rarely been a controversial figure. Although known for being blunt and honest, he has always been respected by his peers and others.

However, recently, an allegation of racism has come his way from former WWE star D-Von Dudley, who, in a media appearance, claimed that JR made racial remarks towards him. D-Von did a follow-up interview with Maven Huffman (another former WWE superstar) and detailed the specifics of JR’s racial statements on two separate occasions, noting that Jim Ross was drunk and allegedly told D-Von that there was something off-putting about him, and it was because he was black.

Jim Ross denies these claims in a recent episode of his show, Grilling JR.

Jim Ross Would Be Open To Discussing The Racial Remarks Situation With D-Von Dudley.

On the latest episode of his YouTube show Grilling JR, Ross clarifies that he isn’t racist and has never been. Host Conrad Thompson brought up the issue because people in the chat wanted to hear from Ross about the allegations.

How many times do I gotta address it to satisfy everybody? I am not a racist. I have never been a racist. Ask some of the African-American athletes that I’ve been around and worked with in my 50-year career. They’ll say the same thing, and like I said before, when you and I first talked about this, I don’t remember the first cross word I had with D-Von (Dudley).

The boisterous one was Bubba (Ray Dudley). But not in a bad way. He just had no problem expressing himself and Bubba had a lot of ideas. He was a throwback. A main event guy that wanted to be involved into booking his angle, and I loved that. If more guys would do that – and today, they just wait for someone to tell ‘em what they’re gonna do tonight, and that’s the wrong approach in my opinion.

Maven reached out to Conrad Thompson, asking if Jim Ross would be interested in sitting down with D-Von and discussing things, which JR agreed to, saying he liked D-Von and that he definitely would, but he wouldn’t want to make a show of it.

“No problem! I’m happy to do it! I’m just not gonna put it on tape and make a TV show out of it. Period.”

But, I’d have no problem reconnecting with D-Von… I’ve never gotten mad at him. I was bewildered about how this could happen. Because like I said, I don’t remember any negative exchanges with him, and what I was allegedly said would damn sure be negative.

Jim Ross recently returned to commentary in the first episode of AEW Dynamite in 2026
